What We Are About

Mission

At Restoration House STL we are restoring hope by teaching healthy habits for success. We are not a one-and-done organization who adds names to a list to make their numbers look big. We put in the time and care it takes to create lasting change. We’re not building stick huts in the sand – we’re laying brick foundations on the Rock.

Programs:

The Rock – Our success center launched in June 2021 inside the historic Melvin Theatre in South St. Louis City. We see an average of 15 young adults (ages 18-26) every Tuesday through Thursday from 12pm-5pm. Everday offers a hot meal, recreational activities, computer lab, laundry facilities, and our clothes and hygiene closet. However, sticking with our mission, we take it beyond basic essentials with an ID program, financial planning, free Barber Days, community events, and our exclusive Dream Builders Initiative (see below).

Dream Builders Initiative – Created by RH Staff, DBI uses a holistic approach to build a uniquely designed plan for each individual – starting with a firm foundation of healthy habits and guiding them through strategic levels of achieving success. Only select clients who show a strong willingness and want to change are invited to sign up. So far, 3 out of 5 enrolled into DBI have applied, been accepted, and received a full scholarship to a college or trade school. (more info)

ID Program – One of the biggest obstacles facing our unhoused community is lack of proper identification. Without a government-issued ID, a person cannot apply for a job or housing. However, to get an ID you need paperwork that proves you are who you claim to be. RH has become certified as a trusted organization that can research, acquire, and submit paperwork that allows an individual to obtain an ID – and we provide this service free of charge for all ages.
