Immersion Project

What to Expect:

First 15 Hours:

6pm –     Groups will meet at a Restoration House STL facility for the welcome orientation. This location is where they will sleep. Their belongings will be secure while we are out serving the community.

7pm –     First guest speaker and breakout session followed by Outreach with the Restoration House STL team.

10pm –   Participants will have cots, blankets, or the floor to sleep on for the night. No food will be provided (we recommend they eat before they come*).

Next 15 Hours:

9am –     Breakout session and instructions given for the day ahead. Participants will be driven to a bus station where they will start a guided group assignment with their youth leader and a team member from Restoration House STL. Each group will be given directions and a set amount of funds. They must brainstorm how to use public transportation to get to their service project on time with the funds they are given.

11am –   Groups will be working at their service project sites for approximately 5 hours with their guides. During that time will be a third breakout session and lunch (if funds remain from their pot for food*).

4pm –     All participants will return to the RH facility for a breakout session with guest speaker followed by another hour of Outreach with the Restoration House STL team. Transportation will be provided.

6pm –     Closing ceremony back at the facility with worship led by Restoration House STL. Participants will also hear a message from Executive Director Tim Needham.

7pm –     All participants will be treated to a celebratory dinner provided by Restoration House STL. Transportation to the restaurant will be provided. Students can be picked up from there.

*No participant will be denied access to food or water if the need arises. Supplies will be kept nearby.
